The KTM is better for those who want motocross or in conditions where stiffness is needed. However, it does not like trail riding and will tend to be more unstable than the Yamaha because of how easily bogged down with dirt it gets from time to time while moto crossing on tracks requiring quick turns at high speeds.
Yamaha and KTM come ready to race with handguards and a larger fuel tank (for the Yamaha) skid plates. These bikes each have unique characteristics that will determine whether it’s better or worse—knowing these traits can help you decide.
The KTM feels like it puts out more power in a very torquey way, even though both bikes are pretty much identical.
The Yamaha has a responsive engine that revs quickly and provides amazing throttle control to rear-wheel connectivity; this makes for an exciting ride when compared against the heavier weight of 20-pound difference between them.

The KTM has a stiffer and heavier spring, so it’s better for racing GP or GNCC style races.
But we can get particular with this one because the Yamaha seems more set up to handle 180-200 lbs riders while still riding off the road well enough, even if you have less weight on your bike.
The response time from when something happens at high speeds also helps when trail riding isn’t necessary, but quick handling is needed instead.
